Wellington FC originally started as a gathering of two teams from Hunslet and Morley in summer 2004. For a full year they battled it out every week in friendly, but occasionally heated, matches. In summer 2005 it was decided that there was enough interest in the two teams to enter a local Sunday league as one combined team, all they had to do was look for someone willing to support and manage them. After some searching they managed to find support from the Railway Inn Hunslet, who were already looking at starting a football team themselves. One of the local lads, Carl Hope, saw their potential and endeavoured to help them reach it, as their manager. Railway FC joined the Leeds Sunday League in Division 3 season (2005/06). Due to a change in management at the Railway Inn they moved to The Wellington the following season (2006/2007) and are now playing out of The Old Peacock on Elland Road for the upcoming season (2008/09).
They are proud to be sponsored by Premier Partitions + Ceilings Ltd, who provided their home kit, and PJM Valeting who provided their away kit.
