Ambassadors FC was established in 1986 by members of Bognor Regis Baptist Church.
93/94 saw their first cup final, the south team losing 4-1 in the Div 5 final, but 3rd in the league meant promotion to the 4th Div for the first time.
95/96 and the club overstretched itself and entered 3 teams.A Div 4 team and 2 in Div 5, south and central. The independent structure of the teams meant that the Div 4 team struggled the most and relegation followed.
97/98 and an expanded Div 5 meant teams in south and west.
The west team had the best season of any in Ambassadors history. The only team to win a league title. Winning 18 of the 20 games played they romped their division.
98/99 and 99/00 consolidated Ambassadors position in Div 4.
00/01 and another good season, meant promotion again this time to Div 3.
01/02 was good again with possibly the strongest team to date, promotion to Div 2 was gained.
02/03 saw many changes in the squad and the momentum of previous seasons was lost. Relegation followed.
03-06 saw the team comfortably remain in Div 3.
06/07 saw a new momentum with a reserve team that achieved promotion in its first season. The first team reached the Bareham semis and narrowly missed out on promotion. The season coming apart in the last 3 games.
07/08 was poor on many fronts with problems both off and on the field. Once all the dust settled the club has gone back to having one side playing in Div 3 south for 2008/09 season.
08-10 - Despite playing some truly mesmeric football at times (?) we managed to achieve sucessive relegations and will play in Div 5 South for the 2010/2011 season. After much review and analysis the two relegations were found to be John Morgan's fault. John has accepted this, and promised to do better this year.
11 - A much better season saw the team finish third and return to Div4 South. We also reached the semi-final of the cup. |
