Argyle Athletic was formed back in 1978/1979 season and entered the Wolverhampton + District Sunday football league and the team continued for 21 seasons up until the 1999/2000 season. The club won several honours in there time playing within the Wolverhampton + District sunday league. During the pre-season commencing 2000/2001 season following poor numbers and lack of commitment of players the team decided that it would not be benefitial to carry on the team. However, then player-manager Gary Price and good family friend and club founder and backer Reg Pedley decided to carry on the team name. Gary's son Jamie and friends who played for another youth team decided to form a new team and backed through Mr Pedley and managed via Gary Price the team decided to continue under the name Argyle Young Gun's in the Bilston Partnership Youth Football League Under 10's league. The club then continued to build their way through the ranks adding players and building around the original backbone to progress upto the Under 17 age bracket, during this time the team changed their name back to Argyle AFC. The club also won several summer tournaments and won the league at under 11's and finishing league runners up at under 16's level. Having reached under 17's the players decided to skip the under 21's league and move into the open age bracket joining the Wolverhampton + District Sunday Football league. The progressing season should prove a stern test of the team consisting mainly of 17 and 18 year-old lads.
