The great Ross Lennox cultivated the foundations of the club, scouting talent from Glasgow School of Art to Bellahouston Leisure Centre. Personal commitments have brought Lennox's tenure to a premature - and emotional - end. The manager's departure coincided with big money moves for two original players. Philip Gurrey and Paul Rossi joined F.C. Copenhagen and Taipei City Tatung FC respectively, but remain enshrined in the Club's Hall of Fame and will be forever remembered in the hearts of avid Lancerettes everywhere.
Four solid years in the Second Division have provided the team with the experience and desire to progress to bigger and better things. With a new management team in Keith Allen and Graham Angus, the sky really is the limit for the Lancers this term.
The blend of wily experience, explosive ability, and youthful potential messrs Allen and Angus have at their disposal will no doubt be envied by Lennox, but the latter will nevertheless undoubtedly support the new regime wholeheartedly in all their endeavours.
Lancer's Director of Football Graham Angus swore he would do his best to uphold the memory of, and pay tribute to, club greats such as Thomas Rooney, Andy Smith, Tony Thorburn, John McAbney, Neville Rae, and Harry Burry, not to mention the aforementioned Gurrey and Rossi.
It proves to be an exciting season ahead for Bengal Lancers everywhere, be they past, present or future, and their assault on the Strathclyde Saturday Morning Amateur Football Second Division title is a journey the side hope you will join them in making.
