Buxton Ladies FC is a voluntary and independent organisation which was founded in September 2001 due to the enthusiasm of a number of girls who wanted to continue to play football outside of school. From their motivation to start a ladies team, Buxton Ladies FC was formed through a partnership between Buxton Community School, Buxton Ladies FC and Buxton FC (the town’s semi-professional football club).
Out of this partnership key individuals came forward to become the driving force of the club. From Buxton Community School Robin Young a teacher and girl’s football manager became Chairman while former pupil Steph Drabble was elected treasurer. Buxton Junior Coaches, Matt Johnson and Bryan Peach, formed the management team and Pam Leaning from Buxton FC became the liaison officer with Buxton FC.
The 2002/03 season saw the club become a fully affiliated club, with the Football Association and in turn became the newest member of the North West Women’s Regional Football League.
The club is now well established within the North West Women’s Regional Football League and is continuing to improve and push forward season by season. |
