Byron Leverkusen was formed in 2005, when Sunnyside FC was taken over by new manager. Led by Chris Marriott, Byron stormed to the Division 5 title without losing a game all season and unluckily lost a cup final to Kislingbury.
Marriott stepped down and Jake Cook took over the reigns as manager / chairman. During a difficult season, Yak Daddy managed to guide the Byron to 2nd place and promotion to Division 3. A third season brought a new management team of Darren Twiselton + Andy Wimpress, who secured the Division 3 title and promotion to Division 1. Wimpress stepped down and Twiselton continued on a journey that would result in him guiding Byron to their greatest ever achievement.
Twis' first season in sole control resulted in a 3rd place finish in Division 1, but this was the stepping stone to greater glory. The 2009/2010 season finished the league 1 title and the Ken Parker Cup victory against all the odds to over come Premier Division Superstars St Margaret’s with the best Byron squad ever put together.
This season sees the Byron in the pinnacle division of Northants Sunday Combination Football, reaching the aim set 5 seasons ago in lowly Division 5.
