Rob Scott formed Defaid Du way back in 1999; they were a team that played friendlies as well as entering some Cup competitions.
(Llanfair and Llanfechain KO as well as Llanfyllin FC 5 a side KO).
Our first Kit was given to us by Llanwddyn FC just before kick off in the semi final of the Llanfechain KO 2000. We had started the tournament with any colour shorts/socks with black T shirts.
We lost 4-1 to Llanfyllin firsts but from this cup run the Defaid Du was born. Results leading up to the semi final had shocked all.
For a team of non-league players who consisted of a lively mixed bunch of local lads this was an amazing feat.
The Du did not join the local J.T Hughes league until 2004, at which point Aled Roberts came on board. The team has enjoyed many losses and successes since then but definite progress followed.Last season the Du won their first cup on the managers birthday. The Village Cup!
Many a Black Sheep has played for the Du in 10 years and now it is very nice that some of the originals have actually returned to join the new. The Black Sheep are by now a phenomenon.
