Fad Continentals FC were originally formed in the early 80's as Fad Crocodiles, by Alan Steadman, Paul Fada and Paul Anderson. They were based at a local public house on the Whiteleas Estate in South Shields called the FAD and to this day still are. They originally joined the South Shields Business Houses League. They changed their name from Crocodiles to Fad Limelites along the way and are now known as Fad Continentals.Over the years the FAD won numerous cups and titles in the South Shields Business Houses League under the management of Paul Fada. Eventually it was decided in 1992 to resign and join the South Shields Sunday morning league.

Mick Nelson and Paul Anderson took over in the 1999 - 2000 season. In the season 2000 - 2001 the Fad won the A Division cup then the following season 2001 - 2002 the Fad finished champions of the A Division and retained the A Div Cup. After having six great years in charge Mick and Paul have decided to step down along with the back room staff.

2005-2006 saw a father and son partnership with Phil Whale taking over as the manager bringing his own assistant in Paul Keighery and son Nathan Whale taking over as secretary of the club. At the end of the season the Fad brought back the A Division championship and got promoted to the premiership. The Premiership Days came to a sorry end after spending two seasons in the top flight but the Whale leadership vows to fight back.

At the end of 2008-2009 season The Fad Finished second in the A Division which saw them get promoted back to the Premier League and on the way won the A Division Cup for the third time in their history. After four years in charge both Nathan and Phil stepped down from management and the Fad saw the return of Mick Nelson with Craig Nelson as his assistant and Craig Dunn taking on the secretary role for the start of 2009-2010 season.
