Gidlow Athletic F.C play in the Premier division of the

Wigan + District amateur Football League and was formed in 2006 after the sad demise of Wigan S M R (formally Wigan Tech) who after many successful seasons in the West Lanc's and Preston Leagues lost a lot of players (for various reasons) and from the ashes a few loyal members along with some new but experienced faces rose like a phoenix to become Gidlow Athletic
