The Glen is the term of endearment used for the Glendenning Arms, a popular village pub in the village of Witton Gilbert 4 miles west of Durham City on the A691.
Think of a typical village pub with open fires, fine ales, and a bar full of characters. Entertainment here comes in the form of darts and dominos and the friendly banter associated with putting the world to rights and debating which is the best football team in the region but why debate when there is only one that really matters, the GLEN F.C.
If you should tire of the exertion of throwing darts or shuffling dominos or airing your view in the Glen parliament you could retire to the cosy lounge.
John and Gillian offer a warm friendly welcome to all. Many strangers come to the Glen and leave with friends they did not know they had.
No food, no beds, no juke box, no trouble just a great place to enjoy a pint and to unwind after stressful day, as if anyone needs a reason to visit the Glen. |
