Brief history
Goring Rangers were established many years ago and had always struggled to compete on a week to week basis.
That is until restaurant owner and successful local businessman Manuel Quirosa took over at the club in the 2003/04 season.
He brought in sons Luis and Miguel and they started recruiting players immediately as changes were desperatly nedded.
They introduced a whole new squad of players including some from county league.
In the first full season in charge for Luis he took Rangers to promotion to division 1 coming runners-up in the league and also coming runners-up in league cup and the division 2 cup.
The season 2004/05 Goring won division 1 at ease as they were playing some amazing attacking football and also getting to the cup semi-final.
Finally the premier league was gracing some Rangers football but two seasons Goring have struggled to get a decent league position and have only had one cup semi-final.
The club announced new management in 2007 in Tony Castro and Miguel Quirosa,as Luis Quirosa joins 'el presidente' Manuel in the boardroom and is now club chairman.
Season 2007/08 Goring Rangers won their 1st piece of silverware for 3 years as they won the Presidents Premier Cup.
Season 2008/09 Goring had their most successful season of their history, winning the Premier Cup,Trophyman Cup and the Sussex Challenge Trophy.Goring also finished runners-up in the Premier League. |
