Hazlerigg Victory FC were re-formed by Mark Bullock for the 2007/08 season after a 7 season gap from local football. Originally formed many years ago, Hazlerigg lost years of tradition when the team was up rooted to Newcastle Labour Club.
However Football is booming in the area again, and Bullock set off on a mission to create the title challenging sides of the past.
The team core is made up mainly of local lads, with only a select few from outside the area to add some quality.
The 1st season saw the team enter the North East Sunday football League division F where we finished 5th, but this was enough for promtion.
The 2nd season allowed for a title push which saw us lose out to Peggy Sues/Lord Clyde in a play off, being convincingly beaten 4-0.
The 3rd season saw us continue the Runners up trend, again losing out to a very strong Peggy Sues.
The 4th season was much of the same, losing only once in the league but enough to see us bridesmaids again however breaking the trophy duck with a 4 - 0 win over Fawdon Park FC to lift the Charlie Taylor Cup.
The squad has been a tough one to assemble but despite the loss of the Injured Foley + with Jobson, Duffy + now Dobson all packing in, We've added a couple of fresh faces but will stick with the core of maturing players we have. |
