Henley YMCA play in the Reading and District Sunday Football League, Premier Division.
Previous Manager Phil Budd formed Henley YMCA Sunday Reserves back in 1999-00 season and the reserves started off in Division 1 of The Trophy Factory Friendly League.
After joining the Reading Sunday League Division 4 in 2001-02, the team immediately won promotion to Division 3 Central.
Henley YMCA's two sides then divided, with the reserves becoming the first team for the 2002-03 campaign.
After struggling in their first two seasons in Division 3 Central, they finished 2nd and achieved promotion in the 2004-05 season, which saw them promoted to Division 2 Central.
The first two seasons in Division 2 Central were very positive, with Henley YMCA narrowly missing out on promotion in 2006-07 by only two points.
Fortunes changed for the 2007-08 season, where Henley were lucky to escape relegation.
After strengthening throughout the summer, 2008-09 saw Henley embark on an extremely successful year, finishing 2nd and winning promotion to Division 1 West, winning the E. Cambridge Cup and going through the entire season unbeaten.
The 2009-10 season saw Henley come extremely close to a second promotion in a row. Injuries however played a big part in the latter half of the season and after only taking 4 points from the last 18 available, they had to settle for 4th place.
The 2010-2011 season was the most successful in the clubs history. Henley comfortably won the Division 1 West title, the first league trophy in their history, and also secured the Industrial Cup making it a league and cup double.
The 2011-2012 season looks to be a promising one as they continue to build on the previous seasons success. Overall ambitions are to consolidate their place in the Premier Division and have a good cup run, but the club are quietly confident of making it a third promotion in four seasons. |
