Hoveton Wherrymen FC was first formed in 1992 by Alan Royall and Ray Gates and began life in the north east norfolk league division 3. They progressed quickly and found themselves in division 1 in no time. There main success came under Jon Powley as manager who got them promoted 3 seasons in a row to anglian combination division 4 where they are today. Last season saw the team narrowly miss out on promotion.
