The NMLFC played its first matches in 2006, suffering defeats to Leeds Medics and Killingworth YPC, before heading to NAMS 2006 in Southampton, where the girls were unlucky to not progress beyond the group stages, winning two, drawing one, and losing only one of their group games.
Season 2006/07 saw the team become founder members of the Northumberland Women's League, and despite a tough start, conceding nearly forty goals in two games, the girls rallied and finished the season having won one game and drawn three out of 16, making a points total that had exceded their managers' expectations.
The following season the girls finished sixth out of seven after
an excellent 2nd half of the season, and in 2008/09 finished just below halfway in a league of 13, while the reserve side narrowly finished bottom.
This season the two sides will merge again as one, consolidating the current squad following multiple graduations and transfers to pastures new.
It is likely to be a transitional season and the aim this year will be to avoid relegation and have some top, top banter along the way...
