The NMLFC played its first matches in the early months of 2006, suffering defeats to Leeds Medics and Killingworth YPC, before heading to NAMS 2006 in Southampton, where the girls were unlucky to not progress beyond the group stages, winning two, drawing one, and losing only one of their group games.
Season 2006/07 saw the team become founder members of the Northumberland Women's League, and despite a difficult start, conceding nearly forty goals in two games, the girls rallied and finished the season having won one game and drawn three out of 16, making a points total that had exceded their managers' expectations.
At NAMS 2007 in Dundee, the girls were terribly unlucky to be knocked out on penalties in the quarter finals, after winning their group with a 100% record and not conceding a goal in open play.
The newly established second team came 4th in the Northern Medical Schools league, in which they will again compete this year.
Here's to a season of progress.
