North Leigh Under 18's compete in the Allied Counties Floodlit League. They play their home matches at the fortress which is Eynsham Park Sports Ground and the youth set up was founded around five years ago. The team's reputation in the local area has often preceded them and are one of the most sought after teams in Oxfordshire. With the first team now competing in the Southern League having gained promotion last season, a bright future is expected from the youth set- up which has produced many a player to play for the reserve side and then progress into the first team set-up. Coming second in the league last year and only narrowly missing out on promotion, big things were expected in the 08/09 pre-season. However, it was not all plain sailing. Few players attended the pre-season training sessions and the future of the youth looked in doubt. In the end though, enough players were attained by head of player recruitment John Powell and the 18's can once again look forward to a new season under the guidance of Alan Blackwell and expert coaching of Alan McKecknie an Neil Dickinson. |
