Percy Main AFC Ladies were formed during the summer of 2009 and were duly admitted to the Northumberland Women's (County) League Premiership in time for the coming 2009/2010 season.
During The Main's first season, the team finished runners up in what was a small but competitive division and drew admirers for their style of play and sportsmanship.
The 2010-11 season saw The Main compete in a larger, very competitive, locally based Northumberland County league, finishing as runners up to unbeaten champions Lowick United.
The team also won its first piece of silverware in the shape of the League Cup, with a 1-0 win over Cramlington Juniors in a game played out at Ashington's Woodhorn Lane ground.
The Ladies team comes under the umbrella of Percy Main Amateurs FC, one of the region's long established clubs playing in the Pin Point Recruitment Northern Alliance Premier Division who still operate under the "Amateur" tradition.
Purvis Park, one of the most scenic and atmospheric grounds is the home base for both teams and the ladies enjoy one of their league's finest arena's to play in, with a first class playing surface.
Pre season training has now commenced with twice weekly sessions, while winter training is held every Tuesday evening at The Parks, Howdon Road, North Shields from 7.30 - 0pm. All enquiries should be directed to the team managers. |
