Steyning Town FC play in division two of the Sussex County Football league, they formed as Steyning FC in 1892 and spent early years playing juinor football.
The club gained senior status in 1964, joining the sussex county league on doing so changing its name to Steyning Town FC. Town have had highs of winning the division one league and cup double twice, also the Sussex senior cup and been in the last eight of the FA Vase.
Recent years has seen the club struggle and after a stint back in intermediate football the club regained senior status in 2002 and are now looking forward to successful years at the Shooting Field.
2006/2007 saw the club finshed tied 7th in the League and narrowly lose in the Sussex County FA Division 2 Cup Final.
2007/2008 saw them finished in 11th place. Season 2008/2009 brings a Reserve squad doing really well in the Sussex County Reserve League West and a Youth squad starting out in the Youth League with Gareth Dutton and Ben Shelford at the helm.
2008/2009 saw the Reserve squad champions of the Reserve League West with promotion to the Reserve Premier for 2009/2010. The first team finished in 13th place and the youth team finished in 9th place which is a great result for their first season with Gareth + Ben. |
