The club was formed in 2001 with the nucleus of the side being "old" Sedgefield players who decided the rigorous regime of the higher leagues was getting too much.

The breakaway oldies were John King, Les Taylor, Ronnie Woods, Tommy Pickells, Gordon Connor, Rob Dickerson, Arthur Willoughby, Tommy Hoban, Hamish Joyce, Brian Roberts, and John Everson who was one of the younger Sedgefield team members, but made the move to Trimdon Vets as he liked the crack!

To make up the rest of the Gordon Connor recruited a 59 year old player who had retired after playing for Wheatley Hill - Freddy Wilkinson - who is still going strong For Trimdon Vets to this day and turns 70 in February 2012.

The initial meeting was held in Cedesfield Hall at Sedgefield when it was agreed to form the club. Les Taylor was chairman, Hamish Joyce was secretary and John King was to be the treasurer.

A policy was agreed that subs would always get a decent amount of game time and players would be rotated accordingly.

John King acquired a red Middlesbrough strip we played in from Dave Parnaby, academy head at the Boro. Dave also gave us the white shirts we currently play in.

Trimdon Veterans claim to fame so far is we reached our (4th division) cup final a few years ago, however we lost to Peterlee 2-1 who at that time were the top team in the division and won the league.

Trimdon Vets have always finished in the bottom half of the table but always turned a team out. This season has seen a change in fortunes as we narrowly were beaten in the semi final of this year’s divisional cup and also we have gained promotion to the third division after finishing in our highest league position since the formation of the vets – season 2010 – 2011 has been a good one!
