1877 - WFC established by local estate workers
1890s - WFC joined the Border League and won their first cup 2-0 in 1901 against Netherwitton.
During WWI two fans were Dr Goodall the local doctor who turned out in goal and Mr Fitch, the vicar
1922/3 - WFC won the Stamfordham + District Cup
After WWII WFC joined the Coquetdale League and this period was noted for the contribution of Robbie Kell who made his debut at age 14 in 1934 in 1948 scored 70 goals
1950s - After a decade of uncertainy Inkie Fairgreave rebuilt the team who finished 3rd in the League and won the Challenge Cup in 1960/1.
1962/3 - WFC won the League, Challenge Cup and the Northumberland Amateur Cup while Andy Turnbull scored a record 105 goals including nine in a 14-3 defeat of Felton
1963-65 - In the 63/4 season WFC remained unbeaten as they won the Double and in 64/5 they won the double again which included a club record result a 15-1 away win at Shilbottle.
1965/6 - WFC joined the Northern Alliance and although finishing in the top half in their first season finished in last place in 1970/1
1974-76 - A period of rebuilding started which saw the Club lose in the Challenge Cup semi final and the Northumberland Cup final.
1976/7 - Home games were played at Stannington as Oakford Park was being improved. Brian May + Stu Leason took over and two semi final defeats meant that the League took priority where in their centenery year they were crowned champions.
2000/1 - WFC were crowned champions of Div 2 while also reaching the final of the Amateur Cup. Since then the Club have retained their place in Div 1 despite a population of only 125 at Scot’s Gap
2007/8 - George Cowan was recognised by the FA for 50 years of service while the team finished 4th in Div1 and reached the semi final of the Senior Bowl. They also reached the final of the League Cup where they lost 3-1 to Walker Central
2009 - Stephen Cowan was recognised by the Club for 25 years service
2011 - Finish 7th in Division 1 |
