The club was formed in January 1999 on an initial income of £16 and subsequently joined the Durham and District Sunday League in the summer of 1999 under the name of Washington Lambton Highwayman. The club experienced immediate success in its first season finishing runners up to a strong Chilton WMC in Division Six.
Strong progression through the leagues with several promotions and a change of name to Washington Lambton Village in 2003 saw the club spend two seasons in Division One, which is its highest position to date. Unfortunately, relegated from the division one in the 2007-2008 season and a mid table finish last season see's us languishing in the second division for the forthcoming 2009-2010 season.
The club has appeared in two cup finals, The Guards cup losing to a very strong Houghton Glendale going down 3-0, and then in 2006-2007 season runners up in the League Cup to FA Sunday Cup Holders, Hetton Lyons Cricket Club, despite taking an early lead going down to a 4-1 defeat. |
