Club Details

The exact date of formation of Westfield FC is unclear but it was before the 1914-18 Great War, and they were certainly playing in 1911. However, the present club was established in 1927.

Following many successful seasons in junior football, Westfield joined Division Two of the East Sussex League in 1971, and were promoted as runners-up in 1972/73. The following season they won Division One, and also the Division One League Cup. A Premier Division League-Cup double followed in 1977/79, but at the end of the 1990/91 season Westfield were relegated back to Division Two of the East Sussex League.

In 1997 the club was admitted into Division Three of the Sussex County League and, after finishing 4th in the their first season, promotion to senior football was achieved in 1998/99 as runners-up to Oving. In recent years the club has established itself as one of the most consistent in the Division and its sides have shown steady improvement with each successive season.

Westfield finished 6th in 2002/03, and and also reached the Final of the Division Two Challenge Cup, where they were beaten by League champions Rye + Iden United. Although they slipped to 9th in 2003/04 they reached the semi-finals of the cup - losing a penalty shoot-out to ‘double’ winners Littlehampton Town.

2004/05 saw the club improve to finish in a creditable 5th position in the table, and going one better in 2005/06 with a 4th place finish, albeit 13 points behind the third-placed club St. Francis Rangers.

Westfield improved once again in 2006/07 to finish 3rd, with their best points total to date (59 points). However, with no floodlights in place at the Parish Field they were not in a position to accept promotion.
