Club Details

West Jesmond AFC play in Division 1 of the Tyneside Amateur League and were founded by John Joyce, Ian Greenshields and Lee Marsh.

In brief WJAFC is a club born out of other clubs ineptitude. A social experiment. A cultural melting pot where teachers meet students, 'dole dossers' meet lawyers and nationalities unite.

Based in the hotbed of football that is central Newcastle, WJAFC attempts to break down the class system in love of the beautiful game. Finely balanced on a shoe-string budget with lads who pay to play.

The 2004/2005 season was our debutant season and proved relatively successful finishing fourth in the league after flirting with the top of the table.

Promotion was gained in the second campaign with the club finishing a respectful second behind a very useful Blyth Town Reserves side.

The third season saw us win a national competition to be adopted by the BBC where we trained with legends such as Alan Shearer.

2008 saw the club reach it's first cup final yet during 2009, the club struggled to find it's consistency and spent much of the year flirting with relegation.

However, a strong end to the campaign means the 09/10 season could be a year of real success.

Club Motto: donec ego abolesco - until I die.

The club play their home games at Paddy Freeman's Playing Fields, High Heaton, Newcastle- Upon- Tyne.
