Wessex Rangers play in the Sportsman Senior Sunday Football League Division 3. Formed in 2001 the first gathering of the team on record was on Clapham Common on a cold December Sunday afternoon. The first official match was played on 17th February 2002 against Darkside (a game that Wessex drew 2-2 with the first ever goal scored by Andrew Sachrajda).
The first full season was the 2002-2003 campaign upon admission to the SSFL and Wessex have remained in Division 3 since under the tenure of Peter Evans (02-04) and Simon Breach (04-present). They finishing 5th twice (02-03 and 03-04) and 4th once (04-05) reaching the Ron Le Beau Challenge Trophy semi final in the 04-05 campaign only to lose to eventual winners Bald Eagles.
The 2006-07 season is the debut season for the 2XI. Managed by former 1st team stalwart Matthew Paton he took no time at all appointing the injured Andrew Padgett as his number 2.
