NPL U11s 11 1-3 Whyteleafe September 17, 2011 - Epsom and Ewell, Division Premier Previous match | Results list | Next match
Fantastic match on Saturday! The game was full of positives and all the boys should take heart in the way they played against a good Whyteleafe team. Whyteleafe came to NPL full of confidence on the back of a 19.0 win over Merstham on the opening day of the season. NPL started well, and for a good part of the first half took the game to Whyteleafe. Hal opened the scoring with a well composed finish from an incisive through-ball supplied by Jack S in left midfield. Whytleafe replied with a lucky equalizer following a wicked deflection from a free kick that left Jamie no chance. NPL were unfortunate to go into half time drawing 1.1 The second half was a hard fought battle. Whyteleafe scored a scrappy goal early in the second half and as NPL were pushing forward looking for an equalizer, Whytleafe scored a well taken goal late to make it 3.1 . The score line at full time was not really a true reflection of the game and with a little luck the points could have gone NPL’s way. All the boys played well and the performance was a massive change from the first 11 aside game the previous Saturday. The midfield was stronger and kept their shape well. Special mention goes to the outstanding performance of a well organised and combative defence, particularly from Max F, Jack S and Tom on his debut. We now have a good squad of players across both teams and players are now starting gel. We should compete well in all competitions! Goal summary: 12 min - Hal Busfield (8/10) |
