| Peacehaven boss Darren Guirey insists hard work has been the key after his side put heartbreak behind them to be crowned division two champions.

They made no mistake this time around, clinching the title with a 1-1 draw at home to Crawley Down who are also promoted.
Guirey said: “We have deserved it. We have been the best team in the division.
“After missing out last season in the way we did, everyone has worked really hard and it has paid off.
“I have got to give a lot of credit to Shaun Saunders who is my assistant this season. He has been brilliant and has made a massive difference.”
Tom Burton fired Peacehaven ahead on Saturday but Sam Cane levelled a minute from time to make it celebrations all round at Piddinghoe Avenue.

top ^ 12 Apr 2009 - Haven Retain Div 2 Challenge Cup
| Peacehaven retained the Div 2 cup with a 1 nil victory over near neighbours Seaford Town.
Haven had much of the possession but where wasteful with the final ball and finishing.
Before scoring the winner in the 91st through Bunchey, Haven had to be thankful for 2 world class saves from Lee Baker, the second a strike from Chamel Fenelon heading for the top corner was spectacularly tipped onto the bar by bakes.
Haven travel to Seaford on Monday for a league game where 1 point will secure promotion to Division 1, however haven will be looking to take maximum points to achieve the league and cup double.

| | Haven returned to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Littlehampton. This was always going to be a tough game as Littlehampton have picked up some very good wins recently and hit a bit of form. Goals from Tom Levitt and Craig Bunch were enough to send Haven 2 points clear of Mile Oak, who lost away to Westfield. Author: sc |

top ^ 4 Mar 2009 - Haven Return To Winning Ways
| Haven defeated Steyning 4-0 at home last night in a much improved team performance. With driving rain and high winds, not the best conditions for a game of football, it was Haven that started the brighter and took the lead through a rasping drive from Tom Burton. Haven were keeping the ball well in tough conditions but didnt really test the keeper with the wind behind them in the 1st half.
Second half started and we knew the next goal would be vital in the game, and it was Haven that got it from the penalty spot. Tom Burton hit a shot towards goal which was handled on the line. Penalty awarded but to the amazment (especially nobby as he was sent off for the same thing on saturday) no card issued. Dudson cooly steped up and placed the kick down the centre. Haven were keeping the ball well and the defence held solid and Baker in goal was never tested.
The 3rd goal came some what of a fortunate one, Stuart Clarke broke down the right and whipped a ball in which with the help of the wind deceived the goalie and looped into the net.
The scoring was round off from Wes Millis, another cross from the right into the box and Wes was there to tap home from 8 Yards.
All in all a great performance in very tough conditions, everyone playing well and the management team were delighted.
Roll on Saturday when we travel to Littlehampton.
Great performance boys well done.Author: sc |

top ^ 2 Mar 2009 - Another Disappointing Weekend
| Peacehaven drew for the second time in 2 games at home to Loxwood. Haven started the game well and confidence was high with the ball being knocked about, but again we failed to capitalise on glorious chances to put the game to bed. Haven did take the lead through Havens best player Tom Levitt, a cross from Dudson was met by the head of levitt in the 6 yard box to put us in front. We kept the pressure on Loxwood but as previuosly mentioned did not take out chances, and could of easily gone in 4 up at the break.
Second half started and turning point of the game was when Stuart Clarke was sent off for handball on line, to be honest was handball but no way was it deliberate and feel the red card was a bit harsh. From the resulting spot kick Lee Baker saved to the delight of the home fans, Haven were soaking up pressure and seemed to be coping well, when Loxwood were awarded another penalty, unfortunately this time it was put away 1-1.
The game finished 1-1, no time to dwell on the performance as we host Steyning on Tuesday 7.45pm, big effort needed by everyone to get our season back on track and try to get back to the way we were playing the beginning of the season.
We all know we can do it and i have no doubt that we will push on from this. We are in a great position so lets not blow it.

top ^ 25 Feb 2009 - Haven Return To The Top
| After last nights 0-0 draw with Westfield, Haven returned to the top of the table, clear of Mile Oak in second by one point. On a night when Haven controlled the game and had plenty of possesion, just the final ball and finish was missing. Plenty of positives to take as a much better team performance with everybody wanting the ball and working hard for each other.
Haven will look to cement there position at the top with Home games against Loxwood on Saturday followed by Steyning on Tuesday night.
Training Thursday at the club.Author: sc |
top ^ 23 Feb 2009 - Haven defeat the Wickers
| Peacehaven took all 3 points on Saturday against a very hard working Southwick team. Haven not at there best again took the lead through Man of the Match Tom levitt on 15 minutes, a good team goal with dudson suppling the cross and Tom finishing across the goalie. After that Haven couldnt really get there passing game going and where wasteful with the ball. Sothwick grabbed an equalizer when there midfielder had time to bring a clearance down on the edge of the box and hit a half volley into the corner of the net. 1-1 half time.
Second half started much the same again haven wasteful with the ball, but a 15 minute spell in the second half when we started to knock the ball about led to a second goal, Tom Burton was played through after a good team move and the keeper saved and Richie Wotten was on hand to bang on the rebound. More chances were created but poor finishinf and somegood goalkeeping kept Southwick in with a chance.
The victory puts us level on points with Mile Oak at the top of the table and 5 points clear of Rustington in 3rd who suffered a home defeat to Crawley Down.
Another tough game on Tuesday home to Westfield who will looking to bounce back from defeat to Storrington. 7.45pm K/O all support welcome.Author: sc |
top ^ 18 Feb 2009 - Haven Bounce Back
| After Saturdays dissapointing defeat to promotion rivals Rustington, Haven bounced back and defeated Rye 4-2. Doosy was looking for a response from the players after saturdays defeat. The game got off to the worst possible start as Haven went a goal down in the 1st 5 minutes, when there stiker was allowed to turn on the edge of the box and fire low into the corner. Haven were soon level when a corner was whipped in by Dudson and Levitt unmarked in the 6 yard box headed home. Haven then took the lead when Tom Burton was upended in the box and Callum Saunders duly tucked away the penalty. Rye were always causing problems as Haven were giving away far too many free kicks and the quality of the balls being delivered were causing Haven problems. It was from one of these delivers that Rye equalised, a freekick wasnt cleared properly and fell to the edge of the area were the Rye player struck through the crowd and into the bottom corner. 2 each at half time.
The second half started both teams sharing possesion but Haven creating more chances and looking more threatning, Haven again took the lead when Paul Dudson broke down the left and hit a fizzing left foot drive which beat the keeper and into the net. More chances were created and Rye were still causing problems with set pieces, but the game was out to bed late on when a Craig Hall freekick bounced off the wall and fell to Tom Burton on the edge of the area who struck a sweet short into the bottom corner.
Both Doosy and Shaun were happy with the way the players bounced back from Saturdays defeat and sets us up nicely for Saturday when we travel to Southwick.
On another note it was nice to welcome back Wes Millis from his travels. Wes will no doubt be itching to get back into the action and will be a great to have for the run in.
Well done lads.Author: sc |
top ^ 16 Feb 2009 - Haven Lose at home in the league for 1st time
| Haven Lost there unbeaten home league record as they went down 4-3 to Rustington. Haven seem to be heading for a defeat at 3-1 down but managed to bring the game level with a couple of minutes to go, Only for a last minute penalty to be concided which was converted and sent Rustington home with the 3 points.
Doosy will be looking for a response from the players tomorrow as we entertain Rye at home 7.45pm k/o. Ben Sweatman and Paul Dudson are both availiable following there recent suspensions.Author: sc |

top ^ 11 Feb 2009 - Haven 0-3 Shoreham
| On a cold night Peachaven lost 3-0 to Shoreham in the Brighton Charity Cup. Doosy made 8 changes to the side that won at the weekend and handed debuts to Lee Robinson and Owen Hill made his first start since signing from Whitehawk. Haven played well but gifted the 3 goals to Shoreham. (and yes i take the blame for 2 I had a shocker). Doosy after the game was happy with the effort and the way the team played, but not happy with the mistakes that cost us the game.
The night ended with a bad injury to Nathan, who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle. From all at the club we wish Nath a speedy recovery.

Goals from Callum Saunders, Tom Burton and Ryan Smith.
Next up Shoreham at Middle Road 7.45pm in the Brighton Charity Cup. The Manager has already stated that a few players will be rested and this is a game that he sees he can have alook at a few fringe players and give a run out to players that have spent alot of time on the bench.Author: sc |

Peacehaven will be without 3 players Sweatman, Clarke and Dudson, who all start suspensions for there sendings off against Arundel. Good news being that the suspensions were lighter than expected, Sweatman and Dudson 2 games and Clarke 1 game.

| Not a convincing performance by any means, but got the job done and 3 more points in the bag. Fair play to storrington who went down to 9 men battled hard and defended very well. The woodwork coming to there rescue on numerous occasions, and Havens final ball and finishing is what let them down. Both goals came from Callum Saunders.
