News item8 Aug 2010 - Rattray 2 - 4 Balmoral United

Well done to both teams for playing out an entertaining match which was played in a competitive spirit and had plently of goals, most of which, unfortunatley for Rattray, came for Balmoral United, who were the more clinical team on the day.

Rattray started the game the stronger and had Allan Cruickshank's header cleared off the line after only 2 minutes. After being up against it for the opening 20 minutes The Bal took the lead with virtually their first shot on goal, after this they had the better of the remainder of the half and raced into a 3 - 0 lead. Rattray pulled a goal back just before half time when Allan Cruickshank headed in a cross at the back post.

Rattray again started the second half on the front foot and pulled another goal back when a Balmoral defender turned Calvin Rooney's cross into his own net. Rattray pushed for an equaliser but were caught on the break when The Bal made it 4 - 2 with 30 minutes left. The rest of the game was end to end and still played at a great pace despite the heat on the day.

Rattray:

Stewart O'Brien, Bruce Whytock, Liam Burke, Paul Cruickshank, Kevin Legg, Jed Findlay, Scott Whytock, Stewart Nicoll, Allan Cruickshank, Jamie Vicars, Calvin Rooney.

Subs used:

Greig Downie, Daryl Stewart, Neil McKay, Lindsay Cruickshank, Sean-Paul Boyle.

Congratulations to Balmoral United who win the Allan Cowan Memorial Shield for the second year in a row, probably just deserving it on the day for the way they took their chances. There will be training as normal this Tuesday and Thursday at 6.45 pm.

News item29 Jul 2010 - Coupar Angus Juniors 4 - 1 Rattray

Paul Cruickshank
Rattray more than matched their Junior opponents before the referee lost the plot and decided to show 3 Rattray players red cards within the space of 5 minutes. Coupar took an early lead before Paul Cruickshank brought Rattray level on 20 minutes. Coupar went in 3 - 1 up at half time after scoring a debatable penalty decision and a goal straight from a cross. The second half was only 10 minutes old and Rattray were down to 8 men when Stewart Nicoll, Jamie Vicars, and Paul Cruickshank were all sent off within 5 minutes of one another, all three decisions were a joke. Rattray dug deep for the last 30 minutes and restricted Coupar to scoring one more goal whilst also looking dangerous at times on the break. Rattray's next match is a week on Saturday against Balmoral United where, despite the joke decisions by the referee, discipline will need to improve big time. There will be training this Saturday afternoon, all players to meet at davie park at 1pm.

Rattray:

David Winton, Jed Findlay, Liam Burke, Paul Cruickshank, Marc McFadden, Bruce Whytock, Stewart Nicoll, Allan Cruickshank, Euan Murray, Jamie Vicars, Calvin Rooney.

Subs used:

George Restrick, Sean-Paul Boyle, Scott Whytock, Daryl Stewart, Matthew Cunningham, Greig Downie.
