top ^ 1 Feb 2010 - Manager's Comments....
| After the very disappointing defeat in the FA Vase 4th Round against Royston Town we had no time to feel sorry for ourselves as we had to pick ourselves up for a very tough away fixture at Boldmere St Michaels.
We asked the players to put the Vase defeat out of their minds and put in as much effort as possible to overcome Boldmere, we came away with a 1-0 victory, Chris Turner scoring after a fine passing move down the right hand side.
We had never previously won at Boldmere so the win was even more pleasing, it might not have been a performance that was pleasing on the eye but I’ll take 3 points away from home in any manor we can get them.
Onto Saturday and another tough away fixture against Loughborough University, a team who we had previously drawn 0-0 at home with and were a good footballing and fit side.
I thought our performance was excellent we were solid as usual at the back and a lot more creative from midfield, our forwards played well but once again failed to find the net, obviously this is an area of concern, we do have good strikers at the club and they do work extremely hard for the team but the stats don't lie and we do not score enough goals.
Our defensive record is second only to Barwell but our goals for is only better then 5 other teams in our league.
We are working hard to put this right and are in process of bringing in a different type of striker to the club.
I would once again like to thank everybody for their continued support it is very much appreciated.

top ^ 31 Jan 2010 - Round Up from Saturday....
| There was no question with the game of the day, leaders Barwell hosted 2nd place Coalville Town, a crowd of 293 witnessed a 1-1 draw, Cameron Stuart's free kick gave The Ravens the lead midway through the first half, Barwell left it late but Kevin Charley equalised with just one minute to play.
Stratford Town and Oadby Town shared six goals as the sides drew 3-3, Oadby had led 3-1 with Danny Spencer grabbing a hat-trick, Stratford's recent addition from Bromsgrove Jemiah Richards levelled it up with two goals in the final 15 minutes.
Tipton gained ground on the sides around them at the top with a 1-0 win at Loughborough Uni, looking at both sides scoring and conceding records there were never going to be goals and so it proved, Eric Bowen (pictured) the match winner.
Alvechurch and Boldmere drew 0-0 at Lye Meadow while Causeway smashed 4 past Cradley without reply, Malvern Town picked up three points on the road at Shifnal.
The game between Biddulph and Highgate was abandoned at half time with the score at 1-1.
Games at Coleshill, Kirby Muxloe, Rocester and Westfields were all called off. |

top ^ 25 Jan 2010 - Manager's Comments
| After losing 2-1 in the last minute of extra time everybody connected with Tipton are absolutely gutted, I doubt we will ever have a better chance of progressing to a Vase Wembley final.
In the 2nd half we missed 3 very easy chances to wrap the game up but our finishing let us down. We played for 25 minutes with 10 men and still looked the better side.
Once again some appalling decisions by the referee had a major influence on the game, firstly a disallowed goal from a Leon Jackson header left everybody gob smacked, a two footed lunge by a Royston player who had just received a yellow went unpunished even though he gave us the freekick, persistent fouling by the Royston sub who was already on a yellow again went unpunished and a Royston player who was off the pitch injured deliberately rolled back on the pitch when we had took a quick throwing to put us through towards goal, the referee pulled play back so he could be treated after loud home appeals, yet when exactly the same happened in the last minute to a Tipton player and the linesman constantly buzzing the ref to stop the game for a head injury, he blatantly refused to stop play...
I fully understand that referees at times have a thankless job to do but time and time again weeks and weeks of hard work and preparation can be undone by one persons inconsistency and incompetence.
All this I know sounds like sour grapes but any manager, coach, player and mainly the paying supporter will fully understand where I am coming from.
I have to say though Royston are a nice club with very friendly people and we wish them all the very best in the next Round against either Wroxham or Armthorpe and for the future. |
