St Francis Rangers FC was formed in 2002, following the amalgamation of St Francis (St Francis Hospital until 1999), and Ansty Rangers (Lindfield Rangers until 1996).
After just 2 seasons in Sussex County League Division 3, we won promotion to Sussex County League Division 2 (Senior football), finishing as Runners Up to Champions Crowborough Athletic.
In 2004/2005 we narrowly missed out on promotion to Sussex County League Division 1 by 4 points. A creditable 4th place finish was accomplished in our first season in Senior football. The 2nd XI also had a good season and finished 5th in Sussex County League - Reserve East.
In 2005/2006 we went one better finishing 3rd in Sussex County League Division 2 gaining promotion to Sussex County League Division 1 for the first time. However, the SCFL did not grant us the necessary ground grading so we started the 2006/2007 season still in Sussex County League Division 2. Our Reserves had a fantastic season as well and only missed out on promotion by 3 points finishing 3rd.
In 2006/2007 we went one better again and secured the Runners Up spot behind Champions Pagham. With all the necessary ground improvements completed, we acheived promotion to Sussex County League Divsion 1 for the first time in our history.
Our first season in Division 1 started with an opening day victory at Selsey with top goalscorer Sam Jeremiah firing a hat-trick in a 1-3 win. After a very long season, the club finished in a creditable 14th place and can be viewed as a good start to life in the top flight. Our reserves had a fantastci season winning the Reserve East title and will start the 2008/9 campaign in the Reserve Premier division.
